Movember (aka No-Shave November) is back! It’s the time of year when men around the world grow a “Mo” (moustache) to raise awareness for men’s health issues — specifically, mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

“Movember is a global health movement of over 6 million men and women focused on positively changing men’s behaviors, challenging norms of what it means to be a man and improving the systems and settings that men interact with,” states a Nov. 1, 2022, press release from the Movember global men’s health charity.

“This year Movember has teamed up with John Oates, American musician and moustachioed half of the iconic pop-rock due Hall & Oates, who will bring back his epic Mo with a renewed meaning.” (He’ll be documenting his hair-raising journey all month long on TikTok.)

According to the Movember press release:

  • Three out of four suicides in the United States are men, at a rate of 100 per day.
  • More than 3 million American men are living with prostate cancer.
  • For men between the ages of 15-34, the most diagnosed cancer is prostate cancer.
