Storage And Transportation

Contractors who install StormMaster shingles with Core4 should give special consideration to their handling, storage and transportation.

First, because of the pliability of shingles manufactured with Core4 Technology, distribution and contractors should avoid double or triple stacking pallets.

“StormMaster shingles in double-stacked pallets can compress the shingles enough to secrete oil out of the asphalt,” said Paul Casseri, product manager, shingles and underlayment division for Atlas Roofing.

Installation

StormMaster shingles are designed to be installed in moderate weather between 50 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Atlas recommends that installation take place during the cooler parts of the day.

Contractors should be careful to avoid excessive foot traffic over installed roofing shingles because it can cause scuffing and other damage during the installation process. Atlas recommends temporarily tacking a 2-foot strip of felt to the bottom of the walk board so that the felt can absorb the foot traffic while protecting shingles. Many contractors will plan ahead to install each roof plane in a pattern that yields the least foot traffic when installing StormMaster shingles with Core4.
