Denver, Colorado — National Women in Roofing (NWIR), a national organization focused on the empowerment of women within the roofing industry, has announced that Sherry Holmes will be the keynote speaker at its second annual NWIR Day. Sherry is a contractor, part-time designer and weekend DIYer. She supports and mentors women in the skilled trades and recently became an ambassador for Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build.

Sherry’s father is celebrity contractor Mike Holmes, so construction is in her blood. She started behind the scenes on Mike’s breakout series, Holmes on Homes® and has been a crew member ever since. She also appears in Holmes: Next Generation, as well as Roof It Right, a new web series she hosts with her brother, Mike Holmes Jr.

“We are very excited to have Sherry share her story of her challenges and successes as a contractor,” says Shari Carlozzi, chair of NWIR. “Her insight and experience are sure to inspire everyone attending the event."

Sherry works to encourage women to get into the trades. “If you’re thinking about getting into the trades, go for it! If it’s your passion learn as much as you can," she says on her website. "It might be harder than you think to make your mark, but I promise you it will be worth it.”

With a theme of "Building Better Together," NWIR Day provides additional educational and networking sessions for women in the roofing industry. It’s also an opportunity for women in the industry to be among professional, like-minded, good-spirited women from all facets of the roofing industry to gain insight and inspiration.
