Milestone Moment
Midian Roofing Celebrates 20 Years in Business with a Roof Giveaway
Angie Lewis, Writer2020 may not have been the best year, but AtlasPRO+™ Contractor TK Hamilton still had something to celebrate — the 20th anniversary of his company, Midian Roofing, in Rome, GA.
To commemorate the occasion, Midian and its employees hosted a special luncheon for some of their customers, vendors and local dignitaries. The city’s Chamber of Commerce also honored the company’s two-decade milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. And — the most heartwarming part of the celebration — a local family in need was chosen to receive a free Atlas roof.
Desperate Times
Over the years, Midian has donated hundreds of repairs and provided at least six full roof replacements. But this particular giveaway came at a time when the recipients needed it most.
This family’s roof had been leaking into their daughter’s bedroom for two years, but with the husband on disability, the cost of replacing the roof was not financially possible.
In comes Midian Roofing, which supplied the labor, and donated products and materials from Atlas Roofing and ABC Supply in Cartersville, GA. The family finally got the new roof they so desperately needed.
The Atlas products used in the install included:
- 22 squares of GlassMaster® three-tab shingles
- 2 rolls of Summit® 60 synthetic underlayment
- 2 rolls of WeatherMaster® Ice & Water 200 underlayment
- 7 pieces of TruRidge® exhaust ventilation
The wife expressed her thankfulness to everyone involved, calling it “a true blessing.”
Humble Beginnings
When Hamilton started Midian Roofing, the odds were stacked against him. He was a ninth-grade dropout, had been homeless, failed at several other businesses and didn’t even have a driver’s license.
Yet despite the challenges, Midian Roofing was born in fall 2000, in a trailer park. When Hamilton told people he was starting a roofing business — on the brink of winter, no less — naysayers doubted his success. But, as a spiritual man, Hamilton says he knew he was being compelled by a power greater than himself.
“The truth is that if we do anything good, it is because Jesus Christ led us to it,” he says. “If anything bad happens, we simply did not follow directions. We do have a strategy, but we also are willing to live one day at a time, allowing God to guide us.”
